About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage daily finishing-site operations, including individual pig care, loading and unloading pigs, and vaccinations
  • Perform swine fieldstaff responsibilities, including pig health management, timely paperwork, and marketing animals
  • Manage a finishing pod of approximately 25,000–30,000 pig spaces
  • Lead a team of 3–4 direct reports
  • Troubleshoot production-facility problems and take corrective action
  • Perform minor facility maintenance
  • Teach proper swine husbandry skills, protocols, and processes
  • Hold team members accountable for following JBS SOPs
  • Identify animals for market and health issues
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign tasks to team members
  • Work standard hours of 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with schedule variations for pig loading and unloading
  • Provide 24/7 emergency on-call coverage and participate in weekend rotation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enjoy working with swine and be able to work in a swine production facility
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
  • Basic knowledge of proper swine husbandry skills and ability to teach them
  • Ability to troubleshoot swine production facility problems and take corrective actions
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor facility maintenance
  • Ability and willingness to teach protocols and processes to direct reports
  • Ability to hold team members accountable for following JBS SOPs
  • Ability to walk among market-size pigs in pens to identify animals for market and health issues
  • Ability to vaccinate pigs in large quantities according to scheduled protocols
  • Ability to use a sorting panel effectively to move animals safely
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Cell phone usable for company business
  • Willingness to learn and use TriOak's Lot Tracker production accounting system and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and assign tasks to team members
  • Detail-oriented
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely
  • Familiarity with the Fieldstaff Training Manual and ability to perform all necessary Fieldstaff functions
  • Must complete post-offer drug, alcohol, and background checks
  • Must provide employment eligibility verification by the end of the third day of work
