About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and implement field safety programs and teams for construction projects
  • Communicate company safety philosophies, values, programs and policies to safety teams and construction personnel
  • Interpret company, owner and government safety policies and recommendations
  • Compile accident statistics, perform trending analysis and recommend safety-program changes
  • Administer and monitor drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company, federal and state requirements
  • Implement accident and incident reporting protocols
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations, documentation, reporting and abatement implementation
  • Work with external insurance contacts to report and manage safety-related claims
  • Assist in monitoring medical treatment of injured employees
  • Conduct regular construction-project safety audits
  • Identify, document and recommend abatement of hazardous conditions
  • Report hazards and abatement techniques to field superintendents and project management
  • Follow up to ensure safety issues are abated timely
  • Develop and implement training strategies, needs assessments, gap analyses and training plans
  • Develop and improve digital, classroom, qualification and on-the-job training
  • Identify technologies that enhance learning experiences
  • Monitor safety metrics and identify training improvements
  • Provide in-person and virtual training and maintain training records
  • Promote diversity and inclusion throughout the organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health, construction management or related field (Required)
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years construction safety experience (Required)
  • 0–2 years team lead or team management experience (Required)
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce federal, state, local and company safety regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in company safety software/programs, processes and tools
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Knowledge of environmental hazard testing protocols
  • Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology
  • Knowledge of testing protocols for noise and contaminants
  • Ability to manage a team and collaborate internally and externally
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship or immigration-related support is not offered
