About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and implement the field safety program and team for construction projects
- Monitor construction projects
- Communicate company safety philosophies and values to safety team members, foremen, superintendents and project managers
- Help field and office staff interpret company, owner and government policies and recommendations
- Compile accident statistics and conduct trending analysis; recommend safety-program changes
- Administer and monitor company drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company, federal and state requirements
- Implement accident and incident reporting protocols
- Assist with accident and incident investigations, documentation, reporting and abatements
- Work with external insurance contacts on safety-related claims and help monitor medical treatment of injured employees
- Conduct regular construction-project safety audits; identify hazards and recommend abatement
- Issue hazard and abatement reports and follow up to ensure timely resolution
- May develop training strategies, needs assessments, gap analyses and strategic training plans
- May develop and improve training programs and methods, including digital learning, classroom, skill qualifications and on-the-job training
- May identify technologies to improve learning experiences
- May monitor safety metrics and provide training sessions while retaining training records
- Lead, support and promote diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health, construction management or related field (Required)
- In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered
- 8+ years construction safety experience (Required)
- 0-2 years team lead or team management experience (Required)
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company safety regulations
- Advanced proficiency in company safety software/programs, processes and tools
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally
- Knowledge of various testing protocols for environmental hazards, noise and contaminants
- Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology
- Ability to manage a team
