About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and implement the field safety program and team for construction projects
  • Communicate company safety philosophies and values to safety team members, foremen, superintendents and project managers
  • Help field and office staff interpret company, owner and government policies and recommendations
  • Compile accident statistics, perform trending analysis and recommend safety-program changes
  • Administer and monitor company drug and alcohol testing
  • Implement accident and incident reporting protocols
  • Assist with accident and incident investigations, documentation, reporting and abatement implementation
  • Work with external insurance contacts on safety-related claims and monitor injured employees’ medical treatment
  • Conduct regular construction-project safety audits
  • Identify, document and recommend abatement of hazardous conditions
  • Issue hazard and abatement reports and follow up on corrective actions
  • Develop and implement training strategies, needs assessments, gap analyses and training plans as needed
  • Develop training methods and improve training programs
  • Identify and implement technologies that enhance learning experiences
  • Monitor safety metrics and identify training improvements
  • Provide in-person and virtual training and maintain training records
  • Promote diversity and inclusion throughout JE Dunn

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health, construction management or related field (Required), or relevant experience in lieu of the degree
  • 8+ years construction safety experience (Required)
  • 0-2 years team lead or team management experience (Required)
  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce federal, state, local and company safety regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in company safety software/programs, processes and tools
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Knowledge of testing protocols for environmental hazards, noise and contaminants
  • Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate internally and externally
  • Must be able to work in the United States; the employer will not sponsor work visa status or employment authorization
