About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, manage and implement the field safety program and teams for the division
  • Represent the company during insurance and OSHA inspections
  • Lead serious or catastrophic accident investigations
  • Help plan, design and implement the Company Safety and Health Program
  • Assist with management of the Drug and Alcohol program, Entering the Work Zone compliance and Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Liaise with employees, the company and external insurance contacts regarding workers’ compensation matters
  • Attend quarterly workers’ compensation claim reviews
  • Provide safety information for project proposals in partnership with marketing
  • Provide statistical information and status updates on safety and workers’ compensation claims to senior management
  • Attend operational meetings to discuss safety matters
  • Communicate safety philosophies and policies to safety teams and construction personnel
  • Compile accident statistics and trending analyses
  • Implement accident and incident reporting protocols
  • Conduct safety audits, identify hazards and follow up on abatement
  • Develop and deliver safety training and monitor training records and metrics
  • Promote diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health, construction management or related field (Required)
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree
  • 8+ years construction safety experience (Required)
  • 2+ years people management experience (Required)
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce federal, state, local and company safety regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in company safety software/programs, processes and tools
  • Proficiency in SIMS (Site Information Management System)
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Knowledge of testing protocols for noise, contaminants and environmental hazards
  • Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate internally and externally
  • Must not require employer sponsorship for work visa status or employment authorization
