About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Test each story against acceptance criteria and beyond within the sprint.
  • Validate delivered work against approved designs, including empty, loading, error, and edge-case states.
  • Verify data directly in the database, including data migrated from the legacy platform.
  • Own exploratory testing of new functionality and write actionable defect reports.
  • Work directly with BA and design leads, who provide independent review at domain close.
  • Help run business-stakeholder acceptance sessions at the end of each build wave.
  • Challenge acceptance criteria that are not testable.
  • Contribute to shaping the testing process as the first QA hire on the engagement.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four or more years testing software in a team that ships continuously.
  • Real exploratory testing instinct; ability to find issues not on the list and explain how they were found.
  • Comfortable writing SQL and checking data at the source.
  • Good eye for visual detail and comfort working from design files as the reference.
  • Clear, reproducible defect reports.
  • Comfort reading acceptance criteria critically and identifying omitted questions.
  • Ability to work directly with business users and subject-matter experts.
  • Test automation experience, particularly Playwright (nice to have).
  • Exposure to performance or load testing (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Figma or a similar design tool (nice to have).
  • Comfort reading application code (nice to have).
  • Domain background in laboratory, scientific, manufacturing, or order management software (nice to have).
  • Experience testing systems that integrate with an ERP (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Asana (nice to have).
