About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with litigation and legal administrative duties
- Communicate with opposing counsel regarding litigation matters
- Notify judicial offices of relevant case developments, including settlements
- Create and maintain contact information for judges and judicial assistants
- Maintain organized, complete, and accurate case files and documentation
- Communicate with judicial assistants regarding case questions, updates, and administrative matters
- Review newly assigned cases and identify the appropriate judge using the case number
- Prepare and send conferral emails to opposing counsel
- Draft initial pleadings and litigation-related legal documents using established templates
- Research and add judges to the case management system
- Maintain records of litigation requests, communications, and follow-ups
- Complete e-filing activities accurately and within applicable deadlines
- Assist with case setup after new lawsuits are filed
- Draft proposed orders, cover letters to judges, and court-related correspondence
- Prepare witness lists, exhibit lists, and other case documentation
- Support civil litigation and first-party property damage matters
- Draft motions to compel, including motions related to obtaining deposition dates
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fluent or highly proficient in English and Spanish
- Previous experience working in a legal environment, preferably supporting litigation matters
- Civil litigation experience
- First-party property damage experience
- E-filing experience
- Previous experience supporting United States litigation matters
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, proposed orders, or other litigation documents
- Experience communicating with opposing counsel, courts, judges, or judicial assistants is preferred
- Familiarity with United States litigation procedures and legal terminology is preferred
- Formal paralegal certification or licensing is not required
- Availability Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Availability to work EST/EDT hours
- Experience with Clio, Dropbox, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and VoIP calling software
- Ability to use calling software through a configured work computer without specialized calling hardware
