About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build backend services and event-driven integrations as part of a team, paired with a senior engineer
Implement and maintain event schemas and data models across services
Review AI-generated and peer code for correctness, maintainability, and data accuracy
Work with product and engineering peers to clarify requirements before and during implementation
Participate in design discussions, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution
Switch between languages and codebases as priorities shift
Contribute to internal tools and integrations supporting Viper's provisioning, installation, and monitoring

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of professional software development experience building production backend services
3+ years of professional backend development experience in Go
Hands-on experience with at least one of .NET or Node.js
Frontend experience with Vue.js
Production experience with AWS Lambda, S3, EKS, and CloudFront
Professional experience with Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms, including topic design and consumer scaling
Hands-on experience building and consuming GraphQL APIs with Apollo or Hasura
Strong relational data modeling experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL
Experience with NoSQL databases
Experience implementing observability and monitoring with Datadog or equivalent APM tooling
Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
Practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code
Strong professional English and cross-functional communication skills
