About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and direction to site engineers, supervisors, and teams working on bulk earthworks
  • Foster a collaborative work environment
  • Oversee bulk earthworks projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Work with senior management to develop strategic plans for the earthworks department
  • Improve processes and incorporate new technologies
  • Encourage innovative practices and technologies to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Apply contemporary construction methodology in compliance with client expectations, company objectives, and contractual obligations
  • Develop and present construction plans, programs, and completion schedules to the construction manager
  • Monitor progress, work quality, techniques, project performance, and costs against baseline targets
  • Authorise and manage subcontractor engagement and work
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships with the project, client, subcontractors, community, and external parties
  • Establish and develop a high-performing team
  • Manage contract, commercial, and financial risks
  • Forecast costs and revenue, take corrective action, and maximise project profit margin

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree qualified Civil Engineer, Construction Management or similar
  • Previous experience within a Tier One contractor
  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects, with exposure to Civil, Earthworks, Roadworks and Rail construction
  • Exposure or knowledge in material processing, crushing, screening, and blasting
  • Direct or transferable experience from other disciplines welcome
  • Experience in remote location roster based work
  • Highly resilient
  • Passion for teamwork and delivering on tight deadlines
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation
  • Understanding of HSEQ management systems, compliance, and reporting procedures
