About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the day-to-day operation of the Permit to Work system during commissioning and energisation phases
- Review permit applications and supporting documentation, including work scopes, SWMS, risk assessments, drawings and isolation schedules
- Prepare, issue, revalidate, suspend, cancel and close permits within project authorisation
- Brief Permit Holders on work scopes, permit conditions, access limits, isolations and required controls
- Maintain accurate permit, isolation, lock box and authorised-person registers and records
- Complete workfront inspections before permit issue, during permitted activities and at handback
- Monitor compliance with permit conditions and stop work where conditions are unsafe or outside the authorised scope
- Support daily permit planning, SIMOPS coordination, commissioning boundaries and energisation activities
- Participate in PTW audits, inspections, incident reviews, briefings and continuous improvement activities
- Report to the Permit to Work Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience as a Permit Officer, Permit Controller, Permit Issuer or similar PTW role on a major construction, commissioning, power generation, resources, industrial or infrastructure project
- Practical knowledge of Permit to Work systems, isolation and LOTO principles, commissioning zones, energisation controls and SIMOPS
- Experience reviewing SWMS, risk assessments, drawings, work packs, isolation schedules and permit documentation
- Confidence to complete field inspections and challenge incomplete documentation or inadequate controls
- Strong administration and document-control skills, with the ability to manage multiple live permits and changing priorities
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with supervisors, engineers, trades and subcontractors
- Construction Industry White Card
- Current driver licence
- Relevant trade, technical, operations, safety or construction qualifications are desirable
- Electrical, HV switching, authorised isolator and other relevant competencies will be viewed favourably
