About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take responsibility for a food counter, maintaining high presentation and hygiene standards
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure products are available
  • Handle open food safely and follow due diligence, health and safety protocols
  • Help reduce food wastage
  • Maintain knowledge of new products and Waitrose food values, including animal welfare
  • Recommend recipes and demonstrate knowledge and passion for food
  • Build lasting customer relationships and support customer loyalty
  • Help maximise sales and profit
  • Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers
  • Customer-facing experience welcomed
  • Experience in a catering or hospitality environment
  • Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends
  • Flexible approach to support the whole branch
  • Ability to work at the specified locations: Barbican, Edgware Road and St Katharine Docks
  • Availability for varied full-time or part-time hours between 05:00 and 23:00
  • Applicants may be subject to pre-employment vetting, DBS checks and financial probity checks where required
