About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate a food service counter and maintain high presentation and hygiene standards
- Maintain stock levels and ensure products are available when needed
- Handle open food safely and follow due diligence, health, and safety protocols
- Help reduce food wastage
- Maintain knowledge of new products and Waitrose food values, including animal welfare
- Recommend recipes and demonstrate knowledge and passion for food
- Build lasting customer relationships and encourage trust and loyalty
- Help maximise sales and profit
- Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years or over
- Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers
- Must be available for the specified location and working hours
- Kings Cross: part-time availability up to 23 hours per week, including Sundays 10:30–18:30 and Tuesdays and Wednesdays 14:30–22:30
- Kings Cross Station: full-time availability up to 37.5 hours per week on a two-week rotation between 05:00–13:00
- Greenwich: part-time availability up to 23 hours per week on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 15:00–23:00
- Experience in a customer-facing role is welcomed
- Experience in a catering or hospitality environment is desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends is desirable
- Flexible approach to support the whole branch
Benefits
Comp & perks- Night Premium of £3.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00
- Pay increases to £14.80 per hour after 90 days
