About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define the legal framework for Juno, Joko's AI shopping assistant, including merchant content, catalogue data, third-party brands and logos, and AI-generated content ownership
Protect Joko brands across markets through trademarks, domain names, oppositions, renewals, and action against infringers
Work with Product and Marketing to secure new features and brands before launch
Negotiate partnership agreements, data-sharing contracts, CPG and B2B deals, and contracts for new business lines
Structure merchant and brand relationships under French and EU rules on restrictive commercial practices
Lead or support negotiations involving exclusivity, most-favoured-nation, competition law risks, and parity clauses
Build contract templates, playbooks, red lines, fallback positions, and AI skills for business teams
Handle disputes with merchants, partners, and suppliers from formal notices through settlement
Brief and manage litigation counsel when disputes reach court
Own the insurance programme, including D&O, cyber, travel, renewals, and claims
Build an international insurance programme with brokers as Joko expands into new countries
Collaborate with business teams and report directly to the Head of Legal

Requirements

What you’ll need

4 to 6 years of experience in commercial or IP/IT law, including time in a top-tier law firm
In-house experience in a tech or consumer company is a strong plus
Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements directly with counterparties, in French and English
Experience in commercial disputes, restrictive commercial practices or IP/IT matters related to AI is a strong plus
Understanding of how a business makes money and ability to use contracts to support it
Ability to turn legal positions into templates and playbooks for non-lawyers
Master's degree in business law, IP/IT law or contract law from a leading French law school
Admission to the Paris Bar is a plus
Fluent in French and English
Another European language is a plus
Curiosity about AI and willingness to learn how to build tools that change legal work
Ability to write clearly and decide with incomplete information
