About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Professionally represent Joliet Junior College and uphold the College’s core values
  • Provide customer service and user support to students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Provide testing accommodations and general assistance to students and community members with disabilities
  • Answer inquiries and provide information and referrals
  • Schedule on-campus and remote testing appointments
  • Administer and proctor academic, placement, and certification exams
  • Safeguard testing materials, software, and environments according to test security protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and test results
  • Complete data entry and maintain organized documentation
  • Provide proctoring services across multiple Testing Services locations, including District 525 high schools
  • Provide technical support with office equipment
  • Enter and batch upload testing scores
  • Troubleshoot testing issues and collaborate with IT on minor technical concerns
  • Monitor technical developments related to testing operations
  • Prepare and organize reports, survey results, records, and files
  • Organize center materials and instruct students in using test center materials and equipment
  • Provide Testing Services reception assistance
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, college events, and trainings
  • Travel to other campuses and centers
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of office support and/or customer service experience
  • Intermediate computer and Internet skills
  • Working knowledge of current office practices, machinery, and procedures
  • Attentiveness to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking ability
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and impartiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values
  • Ability to travel between campus locations and to community events
  • Normal office physical demands
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree
  • Preferred: Two years of clerical and/or receptionist experience in an educational environment
  • Preferred: Proficient computer and Internet skills
  • Preferred: English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency
  • Preferred: Demonstrated multicultural competence
