About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate, maintain, and repair industrial HVAC systems and equipment including large-tonnage chillers, boilers, cooling towers, makeup air units, process exhaust systems, and associated controls
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and process ventilation systems, including filter changes, belt replacements, motor maintenance, coil cleaning, cooling tower treatment monitoring, and sensor/control calibration
  • Monitor and adjust BAS and DDC systems to optimize temperature, humidity, air quality, and pressurization while maintaining energy efficiency
  • Support compressed air, process cooling water, and exhaust ventilation systems that impact manufacturing operations
  • Record temperatures, pressures, flow rates, amperage, vibration levels, and other system parameters; make adjustments and identify potential issues
  • Troubleshoot HVAC and mechanical malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement repairs to minimize production disruption
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging in accordance with EPA regulations and best practices
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of outside HVAC and mechanical contractor work
  • Manage HVAC-related purchasing and inventory control for filters, belts, refrigerants, motors, and critical spare parts
  • Support industrial lighting, process piping, compressed air, and fire/life safety systems as needed
  • Respond promptly to production-related environmental control issues
  • Maintain and calibrate HVAC and mechanical tools including gauges, vacuum pumps, recovery machines, multimeters, and vibration analyzers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC systems
  • Strong ability to analyze large-capacity chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, and industrial mechanical systems, determine root cause, and identify necessary corrective action
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and CMMS platforms (i.e. Corrigo)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Physical ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, climb ladders, and work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, around production equipment, and in industrial environments for extended periods
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, heights, industrial noise, and daylight and nighttime hours in a manufacturing setting, and assist other shifts and neighboring sites as needed
  • EPA 608 Type II Certification or higher for refrigerant handling is preferred; Universal certification strongly preferred
  • Trade certifications or technical school training in HVAC/R, Industrial Maintenance, or Mechanical Systems, with additional credentials in Electrical or Plumbing disciplines are preferred
  • Experience with industrial utility systems including compressed air, process cooling, and chilled water distribution is preferred
  • Experience working in manufacturing facilities, production environments, or operations requiring precise environmental control and 24/7 uptime is preferred
  • Knowledge of energy management principles, HVAC optimization strategies, and lean maintenance practices in industrial settings is preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and industrial safety protocols is preferred
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
