About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct operational support to the US Critical Environments Operations Manager
- Assist in managing mission-critical engineering services across assigned facilities
- Coordinate daily operations across data centers, trading floors, LAN rooms, disaster recovery space, and other critical environments
- Monitor and immediately respond to critical facility alarms, incidents, and infrastructure issues
- Support execution of the 100% uptime Critical Environment Management program
- Prepare for and execute JLL Client Assurance Program audits
- Track and report uptime, MTBF, MTTR, and critical load reliability KPIs
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance for UPS, generators, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH units, electrical distribution, and fire suppression systems
- Provide technical guidance on complex systems troubleshooting
- Support capital budget forecasting and critical vendor contract coordination
- Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents, near-misses, and infrastructure anomalies
- Ensure maintenance follows change management protocols and minimizes risk to live environments
- Identify energy-efficiency opportunities in cooling and power systems
- Supervise and direct Chief Engineers, Assistant Chiefs, and Critical Environments Engineers
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance windows, vendor activities, and emergency response
- Assist with performance management of critical environments engineering staff
- Coordinate after-hours critical incidents and emergencies
- Support environmental health and safety programs, risk assessments, LOTO compliance, and equipment isolation
- Assist with staff training, SOP development, tabletop exercises, and emergency response drills
- Provide incident reporting, root cause analysis summaries, corrective action documentation, and client-facing support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Vocational degree program in electrical systems, HVAC/refrigeration, or critical facilities management
- Comparable work experience in mission-critical environments
- Minimum 3 years direct supervision of critical facilities operations with 24/7 responsibility
- 7 years trade experience in critical environments
- 3 years engineering/supervisory experience in critical facilities
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 75, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute standards
- Knowledge of critical infrastructure systems architecture and redundancy configurations
- Knowledge of UPS systems, battery plants, emergency power generation, precision cooling, electrical distribution, BMS, and DCIM platforms
- Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems in critical facilities
- Ability to troubleshoot complex critical systems under time pressure
- Ability to read single-line electrical diagrams, mechanical P&IDs, and critical systems documentation
- Proficiency with CMMS, MCIM, BMS platforms, and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of change management protocols and maintenance windows in 24/7 environments
- Valid state driver's license
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification
- NFPA 70E Qualified Person certification for energized electrical work
- Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and emergency response
- Ability to respond to critical incidents within typically 1–2 hours
- Regular travel to multiple critical facility locations within assigned region
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during planned maintenance windows
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
