About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide operational leadership for the engineering team
- Ensure machinery and systems operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while achieving 100% uptime through reliability-based maintenance practices
- Implement equipment inspection and monitoring programs
- Define maintenance best practices and continuously evaluate operations to enhance effectiveness and maximize performance
- Supervise engineers and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and personal development
- Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating systems, pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical and electrical equipment
- Oversee HVAC repair and preventive maintenance programs
- Prepare purchase orders, develop sources for stock materials, and check inventory levels and equipment conditions
- Identify safety hazards and implement remediation and safety training programs
- Ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines
- Oversee contractor activities within the building
- Ensure staff and contractors understand the Critical Facility Work Authorization process
- Maintain infrastructure and compliance documentation, including up-to-date building drawings and regulatory records
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of facilities-related work experience with 5+ years specifically in a leadership/managerial capacity
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes with understanding of construction planning and execution
- Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
- Candidates should reside within reasonable commuting distance (approximately 45 minutes or less) of the Seal Beach and Long Beach, CA worksites
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Associate's Degree in an Engineering discipline (preferred)
- Universal Technician certification for CFC's or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment (preferred)
- Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent (preferred)
