About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic operational leadership and oversight of the engineering team
- Safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively operate machinery and systems while achieving maximum uptime
- Protect and improve client asset value through reliability-based maintenance programs
- Execute equipment inspection and monitoring programs
- Define and implement maintenance best practices to improve mechanical equipment uptime
- Evaluate maintenance, operations, and reliability methods to maximize performance
- Build client relationships and foster professionalism, safety, and excellence across engineering teams and facilities
- Monitor and maintain refrigeration, cooling, HVAC equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical and electrical systems
- Oversee repair and preventive maintenance programs across multiple facilities
- Supervise operations managers, engineers, and maintenance staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and succession planning
- Develop strategic facilities operations plans aligned with client and organizational goals
- Oversee parts, procurement, inventory, purchase orders, vendors, and contract negotiations
- Oversee contractors, CFWA processes, vendor performance, and compliance
- Identify safety hazards, implement remediation, conduct safety audits, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain infrastructure and compliance documentation, including building drawings and single-lines
- Provide mentorship, training, and leadership development
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, analyze operational metrics, and prepare executive-level reports
- Manage operational budgets, forecast capital expenditure needs, and optimize resource allocation
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of facility-related work experience including customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience in a senior managerial capacity
- 5+ years managing multi-site operations or supervising operations managers and large engineering teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes with deep understanding of construction planning, execution, and project management
- Advanced exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CMMS systems, and operational analytics tools
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with excellent internal and external customer service experience
- Strong financial acumen including budget management, forecasting, and cost optimization experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or similar discipline (preferred)
- Universal Technician certification for CFC's (preferred)
- Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent (preferred)
- Professional certifications such as CFM, FMP, or PE (preferred)
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (preferred)
- Proven track record of successful client relationship management and contract growth (preferred)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
