About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Securely and efficiently assemble confidential Protected Health Information (PHI) into electronic medical charts
- Gather requested records for legal matters
- Collect and handle confidential patient health information, including exam results, lab reports, treatment plans, DWC-25, Home Health, Physical Therapy, and related data
- Prepare billing ledgers for incoming records requests
- Review gathered information for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare documents and schedule Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) and depositions
- Coordinate with physicians, clinical staff, nurse case managers, and attorneys
- Provide medical records for legal actions while following patient consent and confidentiality protocols
- Maintain accurate accounting and billing for prepared and released medical records
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality practices
- Perform other administrative duties as directed or assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a medical records administration or health records management role
- Degree or Certification in Paralegal studies a plus
- Advanced computer software knowledge required
- AllScripts EHR experience preferred
- Strong background in PIP Auto Claims
- Advanced understanding of medical terminology
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with high stress tolerance
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English
- Must read, write, and speak English fluently
- Highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, cooperation, and dependability
- Analytical thinking, excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational competencies
- Appropriate router and internet speed for remote work
- Permanently resides within thirty (30) miles of Tampa, FL
- Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds at times
- Able to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk while working on a computer, standing, and walking
