About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage corporate duties for all Canadian corporate entities
- Review intercompany agreements and obtain signatures from Directors on necessary resolutions
- Analyze legal risks related to commercial, regulatory and compliance law
- Monitor and analyze new regulatory reporting requirements
- Develop and present concise summaries, actionable recommendations and training to business stakeholders
- Prepare and file required reports, liaise with third-party agencies, and prepare for and attend regulators’ audits
- Address audit follow-ups
- Collaborate with the legal team and provide legal support to JTI business functions as directed by the line manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary education in law, legal administration, corporate governance or a related field
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal department, law firm, corporate services environment or other role involving corporate governance and legal operations
- Familiarity with both federal and provincial corporate governance filings is an asset
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills, including regulatory compliance and reporting obligations
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Excellent decision-making and self-management skills
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
- Occasional travel may be required
