About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead fleet-wide capacity testing and reporting according to offtake and OEM requirements
- Lead engagement with BESS OEMs for operational sites, including escalation and resolution of repeat technical issues
- Build site-specific forward-looking degradation and availability models for proactive asset planning
- Improve and run the battery balancing program to maximize usable capacity and capacity test outcomes
- Design additional testing to identify battery issues and track asset health with O&M teams and third-party vendors
- Improve organizational visibility into asset performance and health through dashboards, reporting, and stakeholder relationships
- Work with ROC and field O&M teams to identify technical issue escalations and propose resolutions
- Serve as a technical resource for origination, market operations, and asset management teams on BESS performance and operations
- Build and maintain an OEM documentation repository and internal knowledge base on equipment characteristics, operating procedures, and commercial terms
- Complete additional projects to improve asset performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems or equivalent) or minimum 3 years of technical experience in energy storage technologies
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in asset management, technical operations or asset performance analytics of utility-scale energy infrastructure
- Strong technical understanding of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including PCS, batteries, EMS, and SCADA/telemetry systems
- Direct experience engaging with major OEMs
- Proven ability to translate technical performance issues into commercial and economic outcomes
- Familiarity with Python and SQL as data analytics tools
- Willingness to learn to use Python and SQL for performance analytics in a cloud Databricks environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead vendor meetings, influence internal teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive projects to closure
- Excellent communication skills to present technical findings and commercial implications to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong bias for action, hands-on attitude, high attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable building frameworks, processes and knowledge bases
- Willingness to travel to operational sites as required, approximately 10–30%
- Ability to work under the company’s return-to-office policy requiring at least three days per week in the office
