About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the program-agnostic Analytics Group within National Headquarters
  • Conduct open-source analysis to identify and develop intelligence on targets operating on the clear and dark webs
  • Provide actionable intelligence through cryptocurrency tracking and analysis
  • Perform open-source and dark web intelligence and social media analysis
  • Conduct geospatial mapping, data visualization, and USPS backend and network data exploitation
  • Search, analyze, and prioritize online marketplaces and cyber-criminal activity to identify high-value targets
  • Evaluate social media, chats, forums, dark net, TOR network, news feeds, IRC, cryptocurrency, blockchain, and other Internet data
  • Assess data reliability and criticality to identify cryptocurrency usage, accounts, services, travels, email addresses, IP addresses, and pattern-of-life data
  • Conduct blockchain analysis, trace funds, and produce comprehensive reports and charts
  • Analyze cryptocurrency exchange subpoena returns in support of inspector investigations
  • Respond to Requests for Assistance/Information for USPIS investigations
  • Provide cryptocurrency and blockchain subject matter expertise, training, and guidance to inspectors and analysts
  • Produce intelligence and investigative reports documenting steps, data sources, and conclusions
  • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities and meet deliverables
  • Provide occasional support outside core working hours and intermittent weekend support as mission requires

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience supporting Crypto Currency investigations is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
  • Favorable credit check for all cleared positions
  • Successfully pass a background investigation including drug screening
  • Residency requirement: 3 consecutive years in the last 5 years
  • Top Secret Clearance desired
  • Experience in open or all source intelligence gathering and analysis
  • Experience using cyber intelligence and software tools to search and mine the publicly available Internet and dark net/deep web
  • Advanced understanding of cyber-criminal methods, online business, marketplaces, and forums
  • Ability to search, analyze, and prioritize marketplaces and cyber-criminals and trace cryptocurrency
  • Ability to conduct research and report results using tabular, pictorial, or graphical techniques
  • Demonstrated experience with Qlik, MicroStrategy, Tableau, and/or i2 Analyst’s Notebook
  • Ability to communicate summary and detailed results in understandable formats
  • Knowledge of social media, chats, forums, dark net, TOR network, news feeds, IRC, cryptocurrency, blockchain data, and other open Internet sources
  • Ability to identify cryptocurrency usage, locations, accounts, services, travels, email addresses, IP addresses, and pattern-of-life data
  • Ability to conduct blockchain analysis and trace flow of funds
  • Ability to analyze cryptocurrency exchange subpoena returns
  • Ability to provide cryptocurrency and blockchain subject matter expertise, training, and guidance
  • Must be able to attend meetings, write, type, use a telephone system, and sit for prolonged periods
  • Climbing/stooping/kneeling 10% of the time
  • Lifting/pulling/pushing 10% of the time
