About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Make key architectural and technology decisions, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across the backend ecosystem
- Own the team's technical roadmap and execution, balancing business priorities, technical excellence, and long-term platform investments
- Remain hands-on by contributing to development, code reviews, technical design discussions, and resolution of complex production issues
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architects, DevOps, and QA to translate business needs into high-quality technical solutions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers, fostering technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Maintain, evolve, and scale mission-critical backend systems powering real-time and on-demand experiences for millions of users
- Drive technical strategy, architectural decisions, execution, and operational excellence across a large-scale production environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years of experience in engineering management or team leadership roles
- Proven experience leading the development and operation of large-scale distributed applications in production environments
- Strong hands-on backend development experience with at least one of the following languages: TypeScript, PHP, Python, Java, or C++
- Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and modern CI/CD practices and tools
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, performance optimization, application security, caching strategies, and database technologies such as Redis, OpenSearch, MySQL, and MongoDB
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with WebRTC, real-time communication, live streaming, or media delivery platforms (a significant advantage)
- Experience with data platforms, event-driven architectures, analytics systems, or other data-intensive applications
- Experience working with React and modern frontend technologies
