About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide mid-level software engineer support for Navy mission systems
- Develop and sustain applications used in operational readiness, training, and logistics
- Ensure compliance with FTM data interfaces and DoD cybersecurity controls
- Design, develop, test, and deploy microservices, APIs, and user interfaces supporting fleet training workflows and readiness analytics
- Integrate applications with FTM data sources
- Implement role-based access and audit logging
- Write unit and integration tests
- Participate in code reviews and CI/CD pipelines
- Produce technical documentation
- Contribute to configuration management baselines
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) sustainment tasks, including STIGs, HBSS/ESS, and SCAP scans
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
- No supervisory responsibilities
- No travel required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of software development experience
- Proficient in one or more of: Python, Java, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL
- Experience with REST/GraphQL, Docker, and Git
- Familiarity with DoD RMF, STIGs, and secure coding practices
- Experience producing status reports, staffing plans, and risk communications
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance; generally, U.S. citizenship required
- Must obtain and maintain necessary security access and/or background checks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Cloud fluency in AWS or Azure; AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a desired example
- Experience supporting Department of War or comparable federal agency or systems
- Kubernetes, message queues, ETL for FTM-aligned data, ELK/Splunk, Jira/Confluence
- Full-time availability
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
- Ability to sit for long periods and perform bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds
- Frequent use of keyboard and mouse
- Ability to see up close; must not be color blind
