About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Initially implement a large volume of automated tests from the beginning of the development lifecycle, applying Shift Left principles
- Define and implement a Shift Left strategy in collaboration with developers, the Squad Leader, and systems analysts
- Specify BDD/Gherkin test scenarios, map acceptance criteria, and ensure traceability in Xray/Jira
- Develop and maintain automated tests, primarily using Robot Framework, for APIs, web applications, and integrations
- Create advanced SQL queries for data validation, test data preparation, and integrity checks
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, including triggers, reports, and evidence
- Monitor quality, coverage, cycle time, and production defect metrics
- Support exploratory and non-functional testing, including basic performance testing and API contract testing
- Gather and document requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, and workflows
- Design technical solutions and communicate them to developers, clarifying questions during implementation
- Support user acceptance testing and participate in Agile ceremonies
- Transition from an automated testing analyst role to a systems analyst role over the long term
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience working as a QA Engineer or Test Automation Engineer, either as a contractor or permanent employee
- Knowledge of Robot Framework, including page objects, keywords, and API and web libraries
- Experience with Xray/Jira, including test planning, execution, evidence collection, and traceability among requirements, tests, and defects
- Practical experience with Shift Left, including participation in backlog refinement, Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), and application of the test pyramid
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, and data validation
- Git, pull requests, and test code reviews
- REST/SOAP API testing, SQL, Git, and CI/CD using Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
- Requirements gathering and documentation, including user stories and acceptance criteria
- UML/BPMN modeling and basic data modeling
- Understanding of architecture and system integration, including APIs, messaging, and file-based integrations
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban, as well as Jira and Confluence
- Clear communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications
