About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a key financial advisor and relationship leader for a portfolio of Not-for-Profit clients
- Provide outsourced accounting and financial management services
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements, management reports, dashboards, KPIs, and other financial reporting
- Advise clients on accounting processes, financial reporting, internal controls, and finance-related operational matters
- Apply Not-for-Profit accounting and reporting practices to varied client situations and organizational structures
- Oversee general accounting activities, including account reconciliations, workpaper preparation, accounts payable, and month-end close
- Establish, improve, and maintain standardized accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls
- Lead onboarding of new clients, assess current processes, identify improvements, and coordinate implementation
- Build relationships with client leadership and serve as a trusted resource
- Manage multiple client engagements, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members through coaching and technical guidance
- Delegate work across engagement teams and monitor quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction
- Train clients and staff on accounting and technology applications
- Use accounting technology and financial systems to improve efficiency, reporting, and client service
- Manage unexpected or time-sensitive client and firm matters
- Achieve high client satisfaction and contribute to growth of the Outsource Accounting & Finance practice
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
- Demonstrated experience working with Not-for-Profit organizations, including knowledge of NFP accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations
- Experience managing multiple priorities, clients, projects, or financial functions simultaneously
- Strong leadership experience, including the ability to mentor, develop, and oversee professional staff
- Strong client service, relationship-management, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and project-management capabilities
- Ability to work effectively within tight deadlines and manage changing or urgent client priorities
- Preferred: Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, client accounting/advisory services, or a similar professional services environment
- Preferred: Experience serving in or supporting a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar financial leadership capacity for Not-for-Profit organizations
- Preferred: Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and similar applications
- Preferred: Experience improving accounting processes, reporting, systems, and internal controls
- Preferred: CPA or other relevant professional certification
- Ability to work additional hours at peak times
