About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build heats for Innova, Cemecon, and Mega PVD furnaces using Automated Calvary Machines and/or manually rodding surface preparation and washing of inserts
- Perform routine and daily preventive-maintenance cleaning of machines
- Diagnose and read machine errors or faults related to PVD rod loading
- Troubleshoot and adjust robotics and controls to correct problems quickly
- Gather and verify setup and raw materials against route cards
- Verify product and style match the route card
- Follow standard operating procedures to complete orders
- Maintain production for automated rod loading and unloading
- Complete production records and required system data entry
- Sustain 5S + 1 standards through housekeeping and staging fixtures
- Follow safety procedures and verify safety devices, machine guarding, and signage before production
- Perform quality inspection and quantity verification of incoming product before coating
- Load work-in-process into the room to keep furnaces loaded
- Move WIP based on priority, backorder, and dead fish
- Originate documentation accompanying heats through the coating process
- Visually inspect coated carbide inserts with the unaided eye and microscope
- Transfer inserts to the next work center
- Communicate pertinent information to oncoming shifts
- Operate other equipment as needed
- Follow inspection control plans and proper routings, specifications, quantities, and styles
- Meet daily departmental production goals and minimize machine downtime
- Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
- Support co-workers and substitute for manual processes when necessary
- Run orders by due date and use Insert Defect Criteria to determine product acceptance or rejection
Requirements
What you’ll need- Able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping
- Understand proper use of 30X Microscope
- Communicate with inspectors, supervisors, and managers
- Proficiency reached in 8 weeks or less
- General HMI/PLC knowledge, including entering data into the machine via the HMI screen
- PLC/PC knowledge for reading the Mii dashboard and understanding fixture components for orders
- Ability to communicate verbally
- Able to read and understand routings, insert identification manual, and operating procedures
- Reliable and dependable
- Accuracy critical to customer satisfaction
- Proficient in basic math, mechanics, computer skills, and Windows applications
- Logical thinking skills to understand automated systems and isolate problems
- Proficient in blueprint reading, understanding insert dimensions, and correlating them to machine performance and defect criteria
- Proficient in troubleshooting issues, determining root cause, and conducting repair
- Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures
- Able to work approximately twelve hours sitting or standing, with intermittent walking, reaching, bending, and lifting insert trays weighing no more than 33 pounds
- Safety glasses with side-shields, safety shoes, gloves, and cut-resistant gloves when necessary are required
