About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate automated CNC or other machinery using single-step or non-multi-step processes
  • Set up complex, customized production equipment to manufacture company products
  • Manufacture quality products in sufficient quantities and within budgeted production costs
  • Set equipment feed, speed, and temperature according to established procedures
  • Operate conventional and CNC equipment for cutting, punching, forming, drilling, tapping, turning, milling, and stamping
  • Select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications
  • Resolve production, machinery, processing, and packaging issues
  • Perform basic-level programming as needed
  • Set up and operate mill-turns, mills, lathes, and grinders
  • Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials
  • Read blueprints and set/check work using quality-control gauges
  • Move materials physically or mechanically as necessary
  • Inspect machined products using precision gauging
  • Set up and perform machining operations on CNC machines
  • Select cutters, adjust feeds and speeds, and replace dull cutters
  • Operate two or more CNC machines simultaneously when required
  • Support manufacturing and operations activities, including specialized technical tasks
  • Support Lean Enterprise initiatives and continuous improvement in quality, waste reduction, productivity, and customer satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Degree
  • 1–3 years of experience
  • Manufacturing experience of 1–3 years in automated/CNC work required
  • Machine operation experience
  • Vocational training or equivalent experience
  • Technical school certification or apprenticeship program completion preferred
  • Basic troubleshooting and decision-making skills
  • Ability to modify G code programs
  • Ability to handle basic or standard CNC complexity
  • Ability to accurately complete documentation, electronic data entries, and communications
  • Ability to understand written instructions and communicate those instructions to others
  • Ability to read process instructions and drawings and recognize details
  • Adherence to company safety policies and procedures
  • Intermediate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proper use and care of precision measurement tools
  • Knowledge of shop math, including geometry and conversions
  • Manufacturing and product knowledge
  • Proven troubleshooting and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
