About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate automated machines such as CNC and other machine tools
- Set up complex, customized production equipment
- Manufacture sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted production costs
- Set equipment operating feeds, speeds, and temperatures
- Operate conventional and CNC equipment for cutting, punching, forming, drilling, tapping, turning, milling, and stamping
- Select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications
- Resolve production, machinery, processing, and packaging issues
- Perform basic-level programming and modify G-code programs
- Set up and operate mill-turns, mills, lathes, and grinders
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials
- Read blueprints and check work using quality-control gauges
- Move materials physically or mechanically as necessary
- Inspect machined products using precision gauging
- Set up and perform machining operations on CNC machines
- Select cutters, adjust feeds and speeds, and replace dull cutters
- Operate two or more CNC machines simultaneously when required
- Complete required documentation and electronic data entries
- Support Lean Enterprise initiatives and improve quality, reduce waste, and increase productivity
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–2 years of experience
- High School Degree
- Machine operation experience
- Vocational training or equivalent experience
- External certification may be required
- Manufacturing experience of 1–3 years in automated/CNC work required
- Technical school certification or apprenticeship program completion preferred
- Basic troubleshooting and decision-making skills
- Ability to modify G-code programs
- Ability to handle basic or standard CNC complexity
- Ability to complete documentation, electronic data entries, and communications accurately and timely
- Ability to understand written instructions and communicate them to others
- Ability to read process instructions and drawings and recognize/attend to details
- Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures
- Intermediate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proper use and care of precision measurement tools
- Knowledge of shop math, including geometry and conversions
- Manufacturing and product knowledge
- Proven troubleshooting and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
