About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run grinding machines to produce quality products according to blueprint specifications
  • Set up grinding machines and install, change, and dress grinding wheels where applicable
  • Determine stock removal while working within tolerances
  • Gauge inserts to ensure proper dimensions
  • Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics
  • Pull samples and record inspection results on route cards
  • Place inserts into proper trays and move them to the next operation
  • Separate scrap from good inserts and document accurately
  • Scan correct production information
  • Operate other equipment as needed
  • Train new operators when required
  • Troubleshoot basic to moderate machine problems
  • Follow safety procedures and operating procedures/work instructions
  • Process products according to inspection control plans, routings, specifications, quantities, and styles
  • Meet daily departmental production goals
  • Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
  • Run orders by due date and solve routine problems using learned knowledge of insert styles and production processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to set up and operate grinding machines
  • Ability to install, change, and dress grinding wheels where applicable
  • Ability to determine stock removal while working within tolerances
  • Ability to gauge inserts and verify dimensions
  • Ability to inspect visual characteristics
  • Ability to record inspection results accurately
  • Ability to operate other equipment as needed
  • Ability to set up machines and troubleshoot basic to moderate problems

  • Reliability and dependability
  • Ability to communicate safety, quality, and product issues
  • Ability to stand, walk intermittently, reach, sit, bend, and lift products weighing up to 33 pounds

  • Safety glasses with side-shields and safety shoes required; gloves/cut-resistant gloves when necessary
