About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run multiple manual or automated honing machines producing quality products to blueprint specifications
  • Set up and operate automated/robotic or manual honing machines, including Harper, Oasis, Solo, Berney polisher, or Auer dryblast hone
  • Program and troubleshoot robots using a human-machine interface (HMI)
  • Perform changeovers, brush changes, and basic maintenance
  • Orient inserts before honing
  • Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics
  • Perform quality examinations with the Alicona magnifier scope
  • Pull samples and record inspection results
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of products
  • Run insert, tooling, and brush tests
  • Separate scrap from good inserts and document accurately
  • Scan correct production information
  • Operate other equipment as needed
  • Follow the control plan and ensure products are processed and inspected according to proper routings and specifications
  • Verify quantity and style are correct
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals
  • Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
  • Run orders according to the order selection procedure
  • Solve routine problems using learned knowledge of insert styles and production processes
  • Refer recurring problems and major decisions to the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • 2-year technical degree preferred
  • Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures
  • Safety glasses with side-shields required
  • Safety shoes required
  • Gloves, including cut-resistant gloves when necessary
  • Ability to stand approximately eight hours with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period, or three breaks per 12-hour work period
  • Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, and bending
  • Ability to lift insert trays weighing no more than 33 pounds
  • Must be reliable and dependable
