About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle and arrange various styles of inserts receiving physical vapor deposition coating (PVD) in heats
  • Build heats for PVD furnaces
  • Place inserts in predetermined fixturing according to process
  • Perform quality inspection and quantity verification of incoming product prior to coating
  • Originate documentation to accompany heats through the Coating Focused Factory
  • Visually inspect coated carbide inserts with unaided eye and microscope
  • Verify product and style match route card
  • Accurately record necessary information
  • Transfer inserts to the next work center
  • Conduct daily housekeeping of the work area
  • Pass pertinent information to oncoming shifts
  • Operate other equipment as needed
  • Follow the green insert control plan and ensure product is processed according to proper routings, specifications, quantity, and style
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals
  • Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
  • Run orders by due date and consult co-workers and supervisor to solve problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • 2-year technical degree preferred
  • Safety glasses with side-shields required
  • Safety Shoes are required
  • Approximately eight hours standing with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period OR 3 breaks for per 12 hour work period
  • Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting and bending
  • Lifting insert trays weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds
  • Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures
  • Ability to follow operating procedures, work instructions, control plans, routings, specifications, and guidelines
  • Ability to visually inspect inserts with unaided eye and microscope
  • Ability to accurately record necessary information
