About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set up, run, train, and troubleshoot all Post-Coat Wetblast manual and automated machines
- Load and unload carbide inserts into the automated wetblast machine
- Confirm incoming inserts and count them
- Set up orders using the appropriate program, process, and trays
- Run machines in automated or manual mode
- Observe and verify inserts are processed to standard
- Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics
- Determine blast success based on visual appearance
- Adjust blaster machine pressures and times as needed
- Monitor machine processes
- Scan correct information
- Perform CLI and preventative maintenance during shifts, weekly, and monthly according to guidelines
- Handle deviations according to operating procedures and work instructions
- Work to meet daily departmental production goals
- Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
- Run orders by due date and follow control plans
- Solve routine problems using knowledge of insert styles, production processes, and machine familiarity; escalate recurring problems and decisions to the supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Able to do basic math
- Ability to read and understand defect criteria, insert identification, blueprints, routings, and operating procedures
- Ability to use a personal computer and software such as SAP MII
- Ability to locate information in QMS and the Kennametal Intranet for ISO Procedures and work instructions
- Ability to handle inserts with fingers without chipping
- Understanding of proper use of a 30X Microscope
- Ability to communicate with set-up persons, inspectors, supervisors, and managers
- Proficiency reached in eight (8) weeks or less
- Complete classes in insert identification in six (6) months or less
- Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures
- Ability to follow inspection control plans, routings, specifications, and operating procedures
- Reliability and dependability
- Ability to stand approximately eight hours per shift, with intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, and bending
- Ability to lift insert trays weighing no more than 33 pounds
- Safety glasses with side-shields required
- Safety shoes required
- Gloves, including cut-resistant gloves when necessary
