About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Run multiple manual or automated honing machines producing quality products to blueprint specifications
- Set up and operate automated/robotic or manual honing machines
- Program and troubleshoot robots using a human machine interface (HMI)
- Perform changeovers, brush changes, and basic maintenance
- Orient inserts before honing
- Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics
- Perform quality examinations with a magnifier scope
- Pull samples and record inspection results
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of products
- Run insert, tooling, and brush tests
- Separate scrap from good inserts and document accurately
- Scan correct production information
- Operate other equipment as needed
- Follow safety procedures and control plans
- Work to meet daily departmental production goals
- Communicate safety, quality, and product issues with supervisors, team members, and across shifts
- Solve routine problems using knowledge of insert styles and production processes; escalate recurring problems and major decisions to the supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have High School diploma or GED
- 2 year technical degree preferred
- Commitment to working safely and understanding all safety procedures
- Safety glasses with side-shields required
- Safety shoes are required
- Ability to stand approximately eight hours with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period
- Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting and bending
- Ability to lift insert trays weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds
- Reliability and dependability
- Ability to follow control plans, routings, specifications, and production requirements
