About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents for multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests
- Support approval of new credit exposure, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange products, derivatives, and ancillary products
- Process amendments to existing credit exposure
- Monitor credit and risk-rate a portfolio of corporate clients, primarily involving participation in syndicated deals
- Review legal documentation, including credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation
- Assist product partners with cross-selling additional bank products
- Gather and analyze client and prospect financial data, spread financial statements, calculate credit metrics, identify risks and mitigants, and assess creditworthiness
- Model future financial performance, including downside scenarios
- Assist Business Partners, Bankers, and Relationship Managers in structuring transactions
- Perform enhanced leveraged cash flow due diligence when appropriate
- Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents covering credit risks, mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends, financial trends, and other pertinent issues
- Ensure compliance with KYC, MCA/Patriot Act, OFAC, and Beneficial Ownership requirements
- Manage approval processes for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents
- Provide monitoring, reporting, and recommendations to Credit Executives as appropriate
- Maintain data integrity and ensure assets remain appropriately risk rated with timely changes
- Identify potential problem accounts and work with the Asset Recovery Group
- Establish and maintain direct client relationships; attend management presentations and bank meetings; conduct plant/site visits as appropriate
- Identify new underwriting and additional bank product opportunities
- Contribute to Industry group white papers
- Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts
- Gather and prepare data for ad hoc requests
- Work independently or under the supervision of Portfolio Managers on deal teams
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with KeyBank policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business (preferred)
- Master's Degree/MBA (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience (required)
- Understanding of foundational accounting principles and ability to interpret and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ability to use financial ratios and other tools to evaluate borrower financial strength and risk
- Ability to evaluate lending and business situations and make informed decisions
- Clear, concise, and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage transactions through required stages, meet deadlines, manage risk, and maintain organization
- Ability to identify, assess, and control risks in corporate lending; grade loans and maintain accurate risk ratings
- Ability to interpret and negotiate credit agreements and loan documentation
- Initiative, prioritization, multitasking, and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively with others and take ownership of actions and outcomes
- Ability to adapt to stressful, difficult, or changing work demands
- Ability to evaluate information, question assumptions, and reach evidence-based conclusions

- Competence in financial analysis and modeling
- Ability to research, analyze data, and synthesize information to assess corporate creditworthiness and create underwriting packages
- Emerging experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities
- Developing experience managing the left lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals
- Ability to lead client discussions and act as primary lending representative under appropriate supervision
- Foundational knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements
- Ability to collaborate with counsel on document negotiations for agented transactions and/or assist lead syndicator
- Foundational understanding of banking and investment banking products and services
- Effective presentation and communication skills
- Ability to plan, multitask, manage time effectively, and frequently lead work independently

- General office physical requirements, including prolonged sitting, face-to-face and telephone communication, frequent PC/laptop use, and occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of items up to 10 lbs.
