About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents for multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests
  • Obtain initial approval for new credit exposure, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange products, derivatives, and ancillary products
  • Amend existing credit exposure
  • Conduct ongoing credit monitoring and risk rating for a portfolio of corporate clients
  • Review legal documentation and assist product partners with cross-selling bank products
  • Gather and analyze client financial data, spread financial statements, calculate credit metrics, identify risks and mitigants, and assess creditworthiness
  • Model future financial performance, including downside scenarios
  • Assist bankers, business partners, and relationship managers in transaction structuring
  • Perform enhanced leveraged cash flow due diligence when appropriate
  • Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents covering risks, mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends, and financial trends
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, MCA/Patriot Act, OFAC, and beneficial ownership requirements
  • Manage approval processes for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents
  • Review and maintain credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation
  • Monitor covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, management capability, and portfolio performance
  • Maintain data integrity and timely risk ratings in Key's systems and reporting
  • Identify potential problem accounts and collaborate with the Asset Recovery Group
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; attend management presentations and bank meetings; conduct plant/site visits
  • Identify new underwriting and additional bank product opportunities
  • Contribute to industry-group white papers
  • Provide guidance and feedback to analysts
  • Gather and prepare data for ad hoc requests
  • Perform other assigned duties and comply with KeyBank policies, procedures, ethics, and client-first standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business
  • Master's Degree/MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience
  • Syndicated deal experience strongly preferred
  • Experience preferred in Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Investment Bank, and/or Large Corporate
  • Foundational accounting knowledge and ability to interpret and analyze financial statements
  • Ability to use financial ratios and other tools to evaluate borrower financial strength and risk
  • Ability to evaluate lending considerations and make informed decisions
  • Strong verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information
  • Ability to manage transactions, deadlines, risk, and client experience
  • Ability to identify, assess, control, and accurately rate corporate lending risks
  • Ability to interpret and negotiate credit agreements and loan documentation
  • Microsoft Office competency and ability to learn other technology applications
  • Competency in financial analysis and modeling
  • Ability to research, analyze data, and prepare detailed underwriting packages
  • Emerging experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities
  • Developing experience managing the left lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals
  • Ability to lead client discussions and act as primary lending representative under supervision
  • Foundational knowledge of credit agreements, banking and investment banking products and services
  • Ability to plan, multitask, manage time, and work independently with senior supervision as needed
  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays
