About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents for complex, multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests
  • Support funded-asset and client-base growth while maintaining asset quality within a moderate risk profile
  • Obtain approval for new credit exposures, amendments, waivers, consents, and related lending commitments
  • Monitor and risk-rate portfolios of corporate clients
  • Gather and analyze financial and industry data, historical performance, credit metrics, risks, and mitigants
  • Model future financial performance, including downside scenarios
  • Advise deal teams and Business Partners, Bankers, and Relationship Managers on transaction structuring
  • Perform enhanced leveraged cash-flow due diligence when appropriate
  • Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents
  • Ensure KYC, MCA/Patriot Act/OFAC, and Beneficial Ownership compliance
  • Lead or manage credit approval processes and provide monitoring, reporting, and recommendations to Credit Executives
  • Review and negotiate credit agreements, guarantees, pledges, collateral agreements, and other legal documentation with counsel
  • Monitor covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, management capability, data integrity, and risk ratings
  • Identify potential problem accounts and work with Asset Recovery Group
  • Establish client relationships, attend management presentations and bank meetings, and conduct plant/site visits
  • Identify new underwriting and cross-selling opportunities for additional bank products
  • Contribute to or prepare industry-segment white papers
  • Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts, Associates, Vice Presidents, and junior staff
  • Prepare data for ad hoc requests and perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with KeyBank policies, procedures, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics or business, or equivalent work experience (required for Senior Vice President level; preferred for Vice President level)
  • Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience for Senior Vice President level
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience for Vice President level
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and use other technology applications
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Ability to gather research, analyze data, and synthesize information to assess corporate creditworthiness and create underwriting packages
  • Experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities
  • Experience managing or developing experience managing the left lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals
  • Ability to lead client discussions and deal execution
  • Knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements and loan documentation
  • Understanding of banking and investment banking products, services, market dynamics, trends, and terms
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, multitask, manage time, and lead work independently
  • Expertise in accounting principles, financial statement analysis, financial ratios, credit risk assessment, transaction management, loan documentation, and risk management
  • Occasional travel
  • Ability to perform general office physical demands, including prolonged sitting, face-to-face or telephone communication, frequent PC/laptop use, and occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of items up to 10 lbs.
