About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare underwriting documents for multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests
  • Obtain initial approval for new credit exposures, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange products, derivatives, and ancillary products
  • Manage amendments to existing credit exposure
  • Conduct ongoing credit monitoring and risk rating for a portfolio of corporate clients
  • Review legal documentation, including credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation
  • Assist product partners in cross-selling additional bank products
  • Gather and analyze client financial data, spread financial statements, calculate credit metrics, identify risks and mitigants, and assess creditworthiness
  • Model future financial performance, including downside scenarios
  • Structure transactions with Business Partners, Bankers, and Relationship Managers
  • Perform enhanced leveraged cash flow due diligence when appropriate
  • Prepare credit underwriting documents covering risks, mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends, and financial trends
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, MCA/Patriot Act, OFAC, and Beneficial Ownership requirements
  • Manage approvals for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents
  • Monitor covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, management capability, and portfolio performance
  • Identify potential problem accounts and work with the Asset Recovery Group
  • Maintain direct client relationships, attend management presentations and bank meetings, and conduct plant/site visits
  • Prepare white papers on assigned industry segments
  • Provide guidance and feedback to Analysts and Associates
  • Gather and prepare data for ad hoc requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with KeyBank policies and Code of Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience (required)
  • Commercial and Industrial (C&I) underwriting strongly preferred
  • Competence with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and effectively use other technology applications
  • Demonstrated competence in financial analysis and modeling
  • Ability to gather relevant research, analyze data, and synthesize information to assess corporate creditworthiness and create thorough underwriting packages
  • Experience structuring financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities
  • Developing experience managing the left lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals
  • Ability to lead client discussions during negotiations and act as primary lending representative
  • Knowledge of business and legal elements of credit agreements and ability to collaborate with counsel on document negotiations
  • Understanding of banking and investment banking products, services, market dynamics, trends, and terms
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, multitask, manage time, and work independently with limited direction
  • Master’s Degree/MBA preferred
  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays
