About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage all aspects of the Native American Financial Services portfolio of tribal clients
- Underwrite loans and other credit products for complex tribal governments and business enterprises
- Review and structure loan documentation with legal counsel
- Monitor credit, portfolio trends, covenant compliance, liquidity, earnings trends, management capability, and risk ratings
- Communicate with tribal and enterprise CFOs and legal teams representing the bank and client
- Formulate credit structures, approval recommendations, and hold recommendations with Relationship Managers
- Participate in syndicated loan transactions as Administrative Agent and Participant lender
- Gather and analyze financial data, spread financial statements, calculate credit metrics, identify risks and mitigants, and assess creditworthiness
- Model future financial performance and downside scenarios
- Lead transaction structuring with Business Partners, Bankers, and Relationship Managers
- Prepare credit underwriting documents covering risks, mitigants, industry concerns, market trends, and financial trends
- Manage approvals for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents
- Maintain credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation
- Identify potential problem accounts and coordinate with the Asset Recovery Group
- Maintain direct client relationships, attend management presentations and bank meetings, and conduct site visits
- Evaluate formation documents and contracting authorities of tribal governments and enterprises
- Develop industry analytics and financial capacity guidelines for tribal governments
- Guide and provide feedback to Analysts and Associates
- Gather and prepare data for ad hoc requests
- Perform other assigned duties and comply with KeyBank policies and Code of Conduct
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business (preferred)
- Master's Degree/MBA (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial underwriting, credit, banking and/or financial services experience
- Prior experience with governmental financial analysis and fund accounting is a plus
- Prior experience with Gaming and/or Native American Financial Services is a plus
- Exposure to casino lending, construction monitoring, and transactional experience as Administrative Agent on syndicated loans is a plus
- Ability to read and understand fund accounting and restricted fund compliance
- Ability to structure and negotiate lending arrangements
- Experience negotiating loan documents
- Ability to coordinate loan closings
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, financial ratios, creditworthiness, and risk assessment
- Ability to model financial performance, including downside scenarios
- Ability to structure financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities
- Experience or developing experience managing left lead/administrative agent roles in syndicated deals
- Knowledge of credit agreements, loan documentation, banking and investment banking products, market dynamics, trends, and terms
- Effective presentation, communication, research, data analysis, financial analysis, and financial modeling skills
- Ability to plan, multitask, manage time, and work independently with limited direction
- Competence with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other technology applications
- Ability to lead client negotiations and collaborate with legal counsel
- Occasional overnight travel
- Ability to comply with KYC, MCA/Patriot Act, OFAC, and Beneficial Ownership requirements
Benefits
Comp & perks- Base salary range of $96,000.00–$181,000.00 annually
- Eligibility for incentive compensation, which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives
