About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build new functionality and improvements for Keylane’s Axon SaaS platform
  • Work within a Scrum team to solve complex technical problems with high-quality code
  • Collaborate with business analysts and test engineers to create customer functionality and internal improvements
  • Take responsibility for a vital part of the software
  • Optimise solutions for performance, usability, testability and maintainability
  • Analyse complex problems with colleagues from various teams and combine different insights
  • Use AI-assisted tools across the software development lifecycle, including requirements exploration, coding, refactoring, testing, debugging, documentation and code review
  • Validate AI-generated output and remain accountable for correctness, security, performance and maintainability
  • Continuously improve engineering skills, development practices, software and codebase
  • Contribute to Axon’s ongoing evolution for insurance companies and their policyholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Passion for software engineering and strong analytical skills
  • Experience with large technical ecosystems using Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, Angular and Docker
  • Experience with SQL and databases, including DB2 and PostgreSQL
  • Experience creating and performing unit, system and integration tests
  • Understanding of Agile ways of working, tools and techniques
  • Attention to performance, scalability, maintainability and testability
  • Interest in AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Codex
  • Ability to critically evaluate, test and review AI-generated code and suggestions
  • Ownership of the quality, security, correctness and maintainability of delivered code
  • Experience with or interest in CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Bash, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack or Chef is a plus
  • Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and reference check are part of the application process
  • Completion of information security training and compliance with basic information security responsibilities
