About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Help develop and improve SiteView, Keylane’s digital claims platform
Contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from prototyping and developing new features to testing and deployment
Develop front-end functionality using JavaScript, React, Redux Saga, HTML and CSS
Develop back-end functionality using Java/J2EE, Maven, jOOQ and MySQL
Work with Docker and AWS in the wider development environment
Investigate application issues, resolve bugs and identify performance bottlenecks
Write secure, maintainable and reliable code
Work with developers and colleagues across the business to understand requirements and translate them into practical solutions
Discuss technical challenges, share knowledge and collaborate with colleagues from other departments
Build secure, scalable SaaS software for enterprise insurance customers

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least five years of relevant development experience working across the front end and back end with this technology stack or a comparable one
Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, JavaScript, React and MySQL
Familiarity with Maven and jOOQ
Experience using Docker and a solid understanding of networking
Experience investigating problems and developing sustainable solutions
Careful working style, initiative and attention to delivery quality
Clear communication and effective collaboration with people from different backgrounds
Ability to work independently and learn new tools and technologies
Degree in computer science, mathematics or another technical subject, or equivalent practical experience or qualifications
Right to work in the UK
Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, OpenAI tools, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, in professional work or own projects
Ability to explain application of AI-assisted tools to understanding code, developing features, writing tests or troubleshooting
Understanding of where AI-assisted tools support development and where human judgement is essential
Ability to critically assess, test and debug AI-generated code and suggestions
Responsibility for the correctness, security and maintainability of delivered work
