Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape the architecture and technical direction of Keylane’s Axon SaaS platform
  • Translate complex business needs into sustainable software solutions
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, business analysts, test engineers and fellow architects
  • Own the architectural integrity of key product areas
  • Analyse complex challenges, dependencies and technical risks
  • Guide teams toward scalable, secure, maintainable and fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Support solution design, review critical implementations and resolve complex technical challenges
  • Document architectural decisions and trade-offs
  • Promote platform consistency and translate architectural principles into engineering standards
  • Guide modernization initiatives, reduce technical debt and improve performance, reliability, testability, operability and developer experience
  • Communicate architectural choices to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Create alignment across Scrum teams and functional clusters
  • Explore responsible use of Claude, ChatGPT and Codex in architecture and engineering activities
  • Validate AI-generated suggestions and remain accountable for security, correctness, performance and maintainability
  • Help teams adopt AI-assisted development tools responsibly and effectively
  • Share knowledge, coach engineers and contribute to architectural practices across the organization
  • Encourage experimentation, constructive technical debate and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate across clusters and with architects working on other Keylane products
  • Align architectural principles, standards and strategic technology choices across the organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Passion for software architecture and engineering
  • Substantial software-engineering experience contributing to large, business-critical systems
  • Strong understanding of software-architecture principles, design patterns, modularity, integration patterns, APIs and data architecture
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technological developments and ability to assess their organizational and product benefits
  • Strategic architectural thinking combined with a pragmatic, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work closely with engineering teams and source code
  • Ability to evaluate scalability, performance, security, reliability, maintainability, testability and operational impact
  • Ability to identify architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt and translate them into practical recommendations and improvement plans
  • Experience with Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, Angular and Docker
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, including DB2 and PostgreSQL
  • Ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly, create alignment and document architectural decisions, context, alternatives and trade-offs
  • Enjoyment of coaching engineers and providing architectural guidance in an Agile environment
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot or Cursor
  • Ability to explain use of AI tools to explore solutions, understand unfamiliar code, develop or improve code and tests, troubleshoot issues, or support code reviews
  • Understanding of AI-assisted development within the broader software development lifecycle
  • Ability to guide coding assistants with clear requirements and context, including reusable instructions, skills or agents where relevant
  • Ability to critically review, test and debug AI-generated code and identify incorrect assumptions, security vulnerabilities and maintainability issues
  • Accountability for the logic, architecture, quality and security of delivered work
  • Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and reference check are part of the application process
  • Required to follow information-security training and basic information-security responsibilities
