About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of electrical engineers and designers
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, train, coach, counsel, and advocate for electrical staff
  • Communicate job expectations, plan work, monitor performance, and appraise project results
  • Allocate department resources and develop talent for current and future organizational goals
  • Lead electrical projects through completion using delegation, follow-up, and personal execution as needed
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and engineering budgets
  • Design building electrical systems, including medium voltage, 480-volt power generation, and power distribution systems
  • Design power and lighting systems for healthcare and commercial facilities
  • Design special systems such as ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, and UPS systems
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications, including single-line diagrams, plans, schedules, schematics, and details
  • Perform arc fault hazard, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and harmonics studies using SKM PTW
  • Participate in construction and commissioning phases
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, conduct construction observation, and provide field support during startup and commissioning
  • Develop labor and cost estimates and manage scope and budget
  • Participate in marketing efforts, conferences, trade shows, customer relationship development, and internal marketing meetings
  • Support business development through proposal writing, customer meetings, and project team interviews
  • Provide work direction to team members and subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain electrical standards, specifications, tools, and processes
  • Provide technical and engineering support to other departments and disciplines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration
  • Minimum of 10+ years of post-graduation experience in electrical engineering
  • Extensive experience designing electrical systems for building infrastructure projects
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, IBC, Life Safety Code, and other industry codes and standards
  • Understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Structural Engineering construction practices
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory or people-management experience
  • Ability to anticipate project team and individual needs and proactively remove obstacles
  • Ability to monitor team members’ work and establish accountability
  • Proven ability to build client relationships and credibility with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to present complex information, synthesize ideas into actionable recommendations, and influence outcomes
  • Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically
  • Healthcare market segment experience preferred
  • Infrastructure design experience for healthcare facilities preferred
  • Healthcare design experience, familiarity with FGI guidelines and NFPA 99 preferred
  • Ability to work at construction sites with tough terrain and lift or move field testing equipment
  • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
