About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as discipline lead for multiple concurrent projects
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Oversee drawing development
  • Delegate design tasks and plan resources
  • Complete quality assurance reviews and mentor team members
  • Act as Engineer of Record on assigned projects
  • Develop scope estimates and ensure work remains within scope and project budget
  • Oversee construction documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Apply sound structural engineering principles
  • Perform field surveys and inspections, document findings, verify existing conditions, and integrate field data into designs
  • Coordinate work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical support and work direction to team members and subcontractors
  • Represent KFI in meetings, site visits, client interactions, and multidisciplinary coordination discussions
  • Support business development by writing proposals and meeting prospective and current customers
  • Help develop estimates for assigned scope of work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering construction practices
  • Strong structural design experience across manufacturing settings, such as food and beverage and chemical
  • Experience using structural analysis software (RISA or similar)
  • Demonstrated consistency in successful combination of design and/or project management
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to present complex information to diverse audiences, synthesize ideas into actionable recommendations, and positively influence outcomes
  • Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office
  • May include domestic travel of 1 to 2 days, typically not exceeding 10% to 15% throughout the year
