About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development and improvement of standardized emergency procedures and resources
  • Coordinate and facilitate emergency preparedness, Incident Command System, lockdown, earthquake-drill, and beginning-of-year training across schools and regional teams
  • Respond to and support school/regional teams during campus emergencies
  • Ensure compliance with local, district, state, and federal laws and regulations related to emergency preparedness, student safety, and procurement
  • Oversee operational vendor relationships and quality-control processes
  • Streamline procurement and billing processes, including region-wide curriculum and furniture ordering
  • Create and manage users on procurement systems and troubleshoot procurement software and systems
  • Liaise with school teams, the regional Finance Team, and the Expanded Learning Team
  • Identify, codify, and share school-operations best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Oversee project management for school moves and support Prop39 applications for co-located campuses
  • Design and facilitate training for school-based operations staff
  • Maintain the operations website, weekly bulletin, Google Drive, compliance dashboards, and other resources
  • Manage logistics for regional operations events and provide on-the-ground school operations support
  • Manage policies, procedures, resources, and vendor relationships for transportation, visitors/volunteers, and field trips/events
  • Plan and oversee annual KIPP Experience field trips and support student transportation needs
  • Support special projects and other tasks assigned by the Associate Director of Regional Operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable required
  • 4+ years of work experience in a fast-paced, high-capacity work environment, preferably within a school setting, with a strong background in project management or charter operations
  • Experience developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures for multiple sites
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams, coordinate work, and drive change at all organizational levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
  • Effective teamwork orientation and ability to communicate and build relationships with KIPP SoCal team members at all levels and third-party vendors
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; systems thinker with an aptitude for proactively building systems
  • Comfort with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Motivated and self-directed; demonstrated initiative, leadership, and tenacity
  • Intermediate experience using Google Workspace, including Google Sheets, Slides, and Drive
  • Demonstrated passion for improving K-12 public education
  • Deep commitment to racial and educational equity
  • Willingness to travel between school sites across Southern California, including greater Los Angeles County and San Diego
  • Ability to quickly respond and provide remote support in emergency situations at school campuses, sometimes before/after regular school-day hours
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation needed
  • Preferred: Experience with Amazon Business or similar procurement platforms
  • Preferred: Experience with field trip or student transportation logistics
