About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as in-house legal subject matter expert and partner with the executive team on product legal strategy and execution
- Advise on privacy, data, AI, compliance, commercial contracts, customer security requirements, and scalable legal support
- Build practical, repeatable systems for responding to privacy questions, particularly for Subscriber Signals
- Develop deep knowledge of Kit, SparkLoop, Subscriber Signals, and the connected ecosystem of products and tools
- Report to the Chief Operating Officer and partner with product, sales, finance, and people operations leaders
- Own core legal work in-house and determine when specialized outside counsel is needed
- Assess legal risk, opportunity, ambiguity, and recurring work during onboarding
- Manage data processing, privacy, AI, and other legal initiatives
- Design scalable privacy support intake, guidance, and escalation systems
- Own GDPR and data compliance vetting
- Establish processes for responding to customer security questionnaires
- Build playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance for recurring privacy, data-use, and compliance questions
- Partner throughout the product lifecycle on initiatives and feature releases
- Prioritize legal risks, reduce reliance on outside counsel, and streamline legal workflows
- Improve Kit’s legal maturity across privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep expertise in data, compliance, and product
- Strong ability to navigate U.S. and European data privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA
- Familiarity with data controller versus processor distinctions
- Ability to translate privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance
- Experience supporting customer security questionnaires
- Experience partnering with security, sales, product, and engineering teams
- Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and its legal, privacy, and customer requirements
- Understanding of intellectual property law related to brand, content, and software
- Understanding of commercial contracts
- Experience as in-house counsel at a tech company or serving a tech portfolio at a top-tier startup-focused firm
- J.D. from an accredited law school in the United States
- Active membership in good standing of a State Bar Association
