About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as in-house legal subject matter expert and partner with the executive team
  • Lead product legal strategy and execution, especially across privacy, data, AI, compliance, commercial contracts, customer security requirements, and scalable legal support
  • Develop practical, repeatable systems for responding to privacy questions, particularly relating to Subscriber Signals
  • Advise on Kit, SparkLoop, Subscriber Signals, and the connected ecosystem of creator tools
  • Report to the Chief Operating Officer and partner with product, sales, finance, people operations, security, sponsorships, and engineering leaders
  • Own core legal work in-house and determine when specialized outside counsel is needed
  • Assess legal risks, opportunities, ambiguity, and recurring work during onboarding
  • Build a view of upcoming legal needs and design scalable privacy intake, guidance, and escalation systems
  • Own GDPR and data compliance vetting
  • Establish processes for responding to customer security questionnaires
  • Build playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance for recurring privacy, data-use, and compliance questions
  • Partner throughout the product lifecycle on initiatives and feature releases
  • Prioritize legal risks, reduce reliance on outside counsel, and streamline legal workflows
  • Help Kit mature its privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security support operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep expertise in data, compliance, and product
  • Strong ability to navigate U.S. and European data privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA
  • Familiarity with data controller vs. processor distinctions
  • Ability to translate privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance
  • Experience supporting customer security questionnaires and partnering with security, sales, product, and engineering teams
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and related legal, privacy, and customer requirements
  • Understanding of intellectual property law related to brand, content, and software
  • Understanding of commercial contracts
  • Clear communication and trusted-advisor capability
  • Experience as in-house counsel at a tech company or serving a tech portfolio at a top-tier startup-focused firm
  • J.D. from an accredited law school in the United States
  • Active membership in good standing of a State Bar Association
  • Strategic, business-oriented, collaborative, and creative problem-solving approach
  • Located in the United States
  • Legally authorized to work in the country of residence
  • Must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
