About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the company’s finances end to end, including cash, books, payments, projections and financial planning
Keep a 13-week cash flow current weekly, identify the cash trough and time supplier and purchase-order payments to the plan
Close the books monthly with the outside bookkeeper and review the P&L against budget with the CEO
Run contractor pay, supplier and freight bills, software and card expenses, and affiliate and creator payouts correctly and on time
Project subscriptions, subscription cohorts and the cash conversion cycle; flag deviations from plan
Prepare sales tax filings with the CPA and keep sales tax and corporate tax filings timely
Grow credit limits and lines and establish and manage an asset-based lending facility
Own bank and lender relationships and manage RMB, USD and CAD currency exposure on supplier payments
Set and track annual and monthly budgets and control fixed costs
Provide the weekly cash position for leadership meetings and send the CEO a monthly finance report
Implement two-person approval for every payment and monthly reconciliation for every account
Keep the books audit-ready
Structure and manage tax matters for new entities with the CPA
Own AI finance agents and automations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fully remote, fractional: about 1-2 days a week approx. (as needed), ongoing, as a contractor
Fluent in English
CFO or VP of Finance for at least one DTC ecommerce brand doing $30M+ a year
Hands-on experience running 13-week cash flows, monthly closes with an outside bookkeeper, and contractor and supplier payments
Experience reconciling Shopify and Amazon payouts
Understanding of nCPA, MER, LTV, COGS and inventory cash cycles
Ability to build cash flow, subscription cohort and cash conversion cycle projections
Experience setting up or managing an inventory- or receivables-backed credit facility
Ability to maintain clean lender reporting
Sales tax experience alongside a CPA
Experience running payment processes with approvals and reconciliations
Strong attention to detail, including identifying incorrect amounts, duplicate payments and missed filings
Discreet and trustworthy with contractor pay, bank access and owner finances
Responsive to cash or payment issues outside set days
Excellent cultural fit according to the company’s values
Willingness to work closely with the founder and help scale the company
Bonus: experience with an inventory-heavy brand importing from China
Bonus: cross-border experience, such as the US and Hong Kong
