About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own company finances end to end, including cash, books, payments, projections and financial planning
Keep the 13-week cash flow current weekly, identify the cash trough, and time supplier and purchase-order payments
Close the books monthly with the bookkeeper and review the P&L against budget with the CEO
Run contractor pay twice monthly
Pay supplier, freight, software, card, affiliate and creator invoices or payouts accurately and on time
Project subscriptions, subscription cohorts and the cash conversion cycle; flag deviations from plan
Prepare sales tax filings with the CPA and ensure sales and corporate tax filings are timely
Grow credit limits and lines and establish and operate an asset-based lending facility
Own bank and lender relationships and manage currency exposure on RMB, USD and CAD supplier payments
Maintain two-person payment approvals, monthly account reconciliations and audit-ready books
Set and track annual and monthly budgets and fixed costs
Deliver weekly cash reporting and a monthly finance report to the CEO
Own AI finance agents and automations and support entity structure and tax work with the CPA

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fully remote, fractional: about 1-2 days a week approx. (as needed), ongoing, as a contractor
Fluent in English
CFO or VP of Finance experience for at least one DTC ecommerce brand doing $30M+ a year
Hands-on experience running 13-week cash flows, monthly closes with an outside bookkeeper, and contractor and supplier payments
Experience reconciling Shopify and Amazon payouts
Understanding of nCPA, MER, LTV, COGS and inventory cash cycles
Experience building cash flow, subscription cohort and cash conversion cycle projections
Experience setting up or managing an inventory- or receivables-backed credit facility
Experience keeping lenders confident with clean reporting
Sales tax experience alongside a CPA
Experience running payment processes with approvals and reconciliations
Strong attention to detail when reviewing amounts, duplicate payments and filings
Discreet and trustworthy with contractor pay, bank access and owner finances
Responsive when cash or payment issues arise, including outside set days
Excellent cultural fit according to the company's values
Excitement to work closely with the founder and help scale the company
Bonus: experience with an inventory-heavy brand importing from China and cross-border experience, such as US and Hong Kong
