About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take over the company's finances end to end, including cash flow, monthly close, payments, tax, budgets and credit lines
Own cash, books, payments, projections and financial planning
Maintain a current 13-week cash flow forecast and identify the cash trough
Time supplier, purchase order and freight payments to the cash flow plan
Close the books monthly with the outside bookkeeper
Review the P&L against budget with the CEO
Run contractor pay, supplier and freight bills, software and card expenses, affiliate payouts and creator payouts correctly and on time
Project subscriptions, subscription cohorts and the cash conversion cycle
Identify and flag deviations from plan promptly
Keep sales tax and corporate tax filings accurate and timely with the CPA
Grow credit lines and establish and manage an asset-based lending facility
Own bank and lender relationships
Manage currency exposure on supplier payments in RMB, USD and CAD
Implement two-person payment approvals and monthly account reconciliations
Keep the books audit-ready
Set and track annual and monthly budgets
Send the CEO a monthly finance report
Own AI finance agents and automations
Bring the cash picture to weekly leadership meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fully remote, fractional: about 1-2 days a week approx. (as needed), ongoing, as a contractor
Fluent in English
CFO or VP of Finance experience for at least one DTC ecommerce brand doing $30M+ a year
Hands-on experience running 13-week cash flows, monthly closes with an outside bookkeeper, and contractor and supplier payments
Experience reconciling Shopify and Amazon payouts
Understanding of nCPA, MER, LTV, COGS and inventory cash cycles
Experience building cash flow, subscription cohort and cash conversion cycle projections
Experience setting up or managing an inventory- or receivables-backed credit facility
Experience keeping lenders confident with clean reporting
Sales tax experience alongside a CPA
Experience running payment processes with approvals and reconciliations
Strong attention to detail, including identifying incorrect amounts, duplicate payments and missed filings
Discreet and trustworthy with contractor pay, bank access and owner finances
Responsive when cash or payment issues arise, including outside set days
Excellent cultural fit according to the company's values
Excited to scale the company and work closely with the founder
Bonus: experience with an inventory-heavy brand importing from China and cross-border experience, such as US and Hong Kong
